Summary of Duties
As an employee working in the Self-Sufficiency Program (SSP), you will have an opportunity to provide resources and services to help people move out of poverty and toward whole well-being. Programs include food benefits, cash assistance, childcare assistance, medical, services for domestic violence survivors, resources for refugees and support for youth experiencing homelessness. The supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising employees and programs in a team environment.
This position also utilizes detailed knowledge of local community resources to maximize effective service delivery for clients and to integrate Self Sufficiency Programs in the community. This position uses program and technical knowledge and skills and abilities to plan, organize, and monitor the operations of a team of employees.
As a Human Services Supervisor, you will:
- Supervise staff, assign, monitor and review work. Responsible for hiring, training, aiding in professional development, coaching, monitoring performance and providing direction, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and resolution of complaints.
- Provide direction to local office staff to achieve and maintain performance measures established by the department or district, such as program accuracy rates, various JOBS participation rates and referral or job placement targets.
- Responsible for maintaining strong relationships with community partners and families, while also making critical decisions about the services provided to our clients.
- Collaborate with state agencies and community partners to coordinate services, maintain beneficial relationships, and participate in district planning and special projects.
- Participate in the management of Self Sufficiency programs, development of program rules and policies, development of long and short-range goals and plans, and program evaluation and budget preparation.
- Monitor and analyze local office effectiveness in policy implementation and application. Analyze, evaluate, and monitor operational effectiveness through observation and reports gathered by reviews, routine monitoring and quality control data.
- Anticipate agency needs and direction. Articulate vision with staff and the community to provide an environment for effective changes to occur. Facilitate changes in services, programs, community partnerships and use of department resources.
- Actively model our Equity North Star goals and the ODHS Core Values of Stewardship, Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Service Equity, Innovation and Professionalism. Ensure staff have a clear understanding of these goals and values; hold self and staff accountable for instilling these values into everyday actions and behaviors.
Minimum Qualifications
- A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.
- Four Years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience
- OR One year of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
