Metal Finisher

Orchid Orthopedic Solutions is seeking a Metal Finisher, Belting to perform precision surface finishing on orthopedic implants and instruments in a regulated manufacturing environment. In this role, you will operate and adjust belting and polishing equipment, follow detailed work instructions, and interpret basic drawings to achieve exact surface, contour, and dimensional specifications. You will inspect parts using gauges and visual standards, document results, and maintain clean, safe work areas.

Working closely with quality and production teams, you will help meet strict medical device standards and support continuous improvement in processes and throughput.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor belting and finishing equipment for orthopedic components
• Follow work instructions, routers, and basic drawings to meet specifications
• Perform surface finishing, deburring, and polishing to required RA and cosmetic standards
• Measure and inspect parts using gauges, comparators, and visual criteria
• Document production and inspection results per quality and regulatory requirements
• Maintain equipment, change belts, and perform basic preventive maintenance
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
• Collaborate with quality and production teams to resolve nonconformances
• Support continuous improvement of finishing processes and workflows
• Handle and protect medical device components to prevent damage or contamination

Required Skills

• Metal finishing and belting operations
• Grinding, deburring, and polishing techniques
• Reading basic blueprints and work instructions
• Use of calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Surface finish and cosmetic inspection
• Basic shop math and measurement
• Handling and fixturing small precision parts
• Understanding of ISO/FDA quality requirements (preferred)
• Equipment setup and minor adjustments
• Workplace safety and PPE compliance
