Clackamas, OR Pay: $22.50/hour

Schedule:

Monday–Thursday, 2:45 PM–1:15 AM

Express Employment Professionals is currently hiring a Die Cast Machine Operator for a manufacturing company in Clackamas. This position involves setting up and operating die casting equipment, monitoring molten metal and process parameters, and making necessary machine adjustments to maintain consistent production and quality.

Job Description

The Die Cast Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring die casting machinery and related equipment. This role requires strong attention to safety, quality, and process control while working with industrial machinery and molten metal.

Responsibilities
  • Use a crane to lift and position specified die sections into the machine
  • Secure die sections in position and adjust the stroke of the machine ram
  • Perform safety checks on equipment and ensure hazards are identified and corrected
  • Connect water hoses to die cooling systems
  • Preheat die sections using electric heaters
  • Set valves and controls to regulate cooling water flow and machine speed
  • Adjust machine settings based on the size and structure of parts being cast and the type and temperature of metal being used
  • Set and adjust air and spray equipment to remove metal fragments and apply lubricant to die cavities and plungers
  • Set and adjust automatic equipment used to ladle molten metal into the machine
  • Monitor metal levels and temperatures in holding furnaces throughout the shift
  • Monitor process parameters and make necessary machine adjustments to maintain consistent production
  • Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures
Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to understand and follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to recognize when assistance is needed
  • Ability to safely operate and work around industrial manufacturing equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and process consistency
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to work with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
  • Must be able to successfully perform the essential duties of the position
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work around industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment
  • Close and distance vision required to safely perform job duties
