Nurse Manager I – Hospital (Cath Lab)

Full-Time The Nurse Manager I – Hospital (Cath Lab) is responsible for managing clinical operations and patient care delivery within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) in a 24/7 hospital environment. This role provides leadership for nursing staff, ensures high standards of patient safety and quality care, and oversees operational processes including staffing, resource allocation, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives.

The Nurse Manager collaborates closely with physicians, multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and hospital leadership to ensure the efficient delivery of cardiovascular services while maintaining compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission (TJC), and federal and state healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Staff Development
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development for nursing staff and clinical teams.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes open communication and teamwork.
  • Support performance management activities including goal setting, performance evaluations, and employee development.
  • Facilitate staff education, competency validation, and professional growth opportunities.
Operational Management
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
  • Translate departmental strategies into operational action plans.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
  • Coordinate staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate patient care coverage.
  • Monitor resource utilization including staff, equipment, and supplies.
Patient Care Delivery
  • Implement best-practice patient care delivery systems and clinical standards.
  • Maintain clinical expertise and provide supervision to ensure safe patient care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Address and resolve patient or family concerns related to care and services.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including Nursing Practice Act, Joint Commission standards, and federal/state laws.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
  • Lead survey readiness activities including mock rounds and regulatory audits.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement improvement strategies.
Strategic Initiatives & Process Improvement
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency and care delivery.
  • Utilize data and performance metrics to guide operational decisions.
  • Lead or support projects that enhance clinical quality and service performance.
Emergency Preparedness
  • Implement emergency preparedness programs and response protocols.
  • Ensure staff training and readiness for emergency situations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in patient care delivery
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in business operations, clinical healthcare, or related field
  • Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience (with or without direct reports)
  • Active Registered Nurse License – Oregon (required at hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – required at hire
Required Skills

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification – American Heart Association
  • Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in a related practice area
  • Experience managing cardiovascular or interventional cardiology services
