Associate Nurse Manager I, Perioperative Services (Operating Room)
The Associate Nurse Manager I – Perioperative Services (Operating Room) supports the leadership and operational management of perioperative surgical services within the operating room (OR). This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care by coordinating clinical operations, supervising nursing staff, and implementing best practices in surgical services. The Associate Nurse Manager collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to maintain optimal patient outcomes while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
The role also focuses on staff development, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives within a 24/7 hospital operational environment.
- Provide supervision, coaching, and professional development for perioperative nursing staff.
- Foster collaboration and effective communication across surgical teams.
- Support staff training, competency validation, and performance management processes.
- Encourage professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
- Support day-to-day operations within the Operating Room (OR) and perioperative services.
- Translate departmental strategies into actionable work plans.
- Monitor staffing levels, scheduling, and workload distribution.
- Ensure appropriate use of clinical resources including equipment, supplies, and medications.
- Implement patient care delivery systems and evidence-based perioperative practices.
- Collaborate with physicians and surgical teams to ensure safe surgical procedures and patient care continuity.
- Address and resolve patient or family concerns related to surgical care services.
- Ensure compliance with Nursing Practice Act, Joint Commission (TJC), and federal/state healthcare regulations.
- Monitor quality and safety standards across surgical services.
- Lead or support regulatory readiness activities including audits and mock surveys.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance surgical patient outcomes.
- Participate in projects designed to improve workflow efficiency and patient care processes.
- Analyze operational data to support decision-making and performance improvement initiatives.
- Assist in implementing cross-functional strategic initiatives.
- Support emergency preparedness programs and ensure perioperative staff are trained in response protocols.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in patient care delivery
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in business operations, clinical healthcare, or related field
- Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience (with or without direct reports)
- Active Registered Nurse License – Oregon (required at hire)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – required at hire
- Surgical Services experience
- Perioperative (Operating Room) nursing experience
- Acute care hospital experience
- Clinical operations leadership
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification – American Heart Association
- Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in a related specialty
- Experience managing perioperative teams or surgical departments
