Crane Technician

A national leader in overhead crane and industrial lifting company is looking for a Crane Technician in Portland, OR. This lead position focuses on electromechanical troubleshooting, field installation, and major component overhauls across Oregon and SW Washington. Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced electromechanical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on overhead cranes, hoists, aerial lifts, and industrial machinery (80% field service, 20% shop work).
  • Execute complex mechanical tasks, including gearbox teardowns/inspections, open-gear alignment, and hoist diagnostics.
  • Lead installation projects for new crane systems, including precision layout, base-plate drilling, and epoxy anchoring.
  • Serve as a technical resource and field leader for junior and apprentice technicians within the Portland branch.
  • Partner with regional industrial facilities to deliver high-integrity preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown services.

Qualifications:

  • High proficiency in industrial electricity (3-phase power, control wiring, motor controls) paired with strong mechanical skills (millwright background, hydraulics, or heavy equipment maintenance).
  • Proven track record with overhead crane manufacturers, industrial rental fleets, aerial lift equipment, or heavy industrial machinery.
  • Strong problem-solving drive; backgrounds in military technical trades, agricultural mechanics, or industrial rentals translate exceptionally well.
  • Active forklift certification is mandatory; strong commitment to operating within an established corporate safety culture.
