The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will be responsible for providing emergency medical and trauma care to patients in various settings. Perform triage and deliver high‑quality patient care in line with established protocols. This role requires efficient, accurate, one‑on‑one patient care while thriving in a fast‑paced environment ensuring every patient is treated with quality clinical care and delivered a welcoming, respectful experience.
Consistent coverage required: 6AM to 4PM, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 2 days per week (Tues/Wed, Wed/Thurs, Tues/Thurs, etc.).
Responsibilities- May perform Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Non‑DOT drug and alcohol testing – training provided.
- Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing such as vaccines, injections, phlebotomy, pulmonary function tests, audiogram testing, and respirator fit testing.
- May be required to perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.) – training provided.
- Determine nature and extent of illness or injury to establish first aid procedures or need for additional assistance, basing decisions on statements of persons involved, patient examination, and knowledge of emergency medical practice.
- Perform routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician and triage emergent patients as needed.
- Assist clients with case management of injuries and follow‑up care.
- Work independently and perform well under pressure, making quick decisions.
- Dispense medications and durable medical equipment (DME) as ordered by the treating clinician, in accordance with state regulations and standing orders.
- Administer prescribed first‑aid treatment, including application of splints, administration of oxygen or intravenous injections, treatment of minor wounds or abrasions, or artificial resuscitation.
- At the direction of the Center Medical Director, communicate with professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and to arrange reception of patients.
- Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices, as well as testing processes used in the center.
- Maintain supplies, clean equipment, and keep the onsite clinic orderly.
- Complete applicable training, including monthly clinical competency training.
- Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping.
- Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or the facility is not operating as expected.
- Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
- Attend client safety team meetings or huddles as required.
- Assist clients with wellness activities.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High School Diploma or GED; degree must be from an accredited college or university.
- Certification as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician or Advanced EMT.
- Must meet credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, and Hair and Oral Fluids Collection certifications – a plus.
- OSHA safety certifications or experience – a plus.
- ARC/CPR Instructor – a plus.
- Customarily has at least 3 years of experience.
- 911 experience required.
