3 East - Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation

24‑bed acute inpatient rehab unit. 3 East specializes in rehabilitation of patients in order to transition home. Common diagnoses are strokes, brain injuries, transplant patients, spinal surgery, open heart surgical patients, and a variety of other diagnoses that result in debility. A team approach is applied while caring for this patient population. The 3 East Team collaborates with physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families for whom the nurse is responsible. The RN is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered.

• Derives culturally and age‑appropriate expected outcomes involving the patient, family and other health care providers.
• Analyzes the health status of individuals and families comparing the data with the norm, when possible, to determine patient care needs.
• Assesses patient reports/records and changes of condition, notifies physician and/or supervisor, intervenes appropriately, and documents accordingly.
• Accepts assignments in areas other than primary unit, and performs duties within individualized competency.
• Demonstrates commitment to continuous lifelong learning for self and others.
