PRIMARY PURPOSE/
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Mail Center Supervisor, the Mail Center Clerk I is responsible for processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and packages for faculty, staff, and students. The position provides customer service, maintains package and mailbox records, loads package lockers, and performs campus deliveries to help ensure efficient service to the College community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Receive, sort, process, track, and distribute U.S. mail, campus mail, and packages in a timely manner.
- Operate Mail Center equipment, package lockers, and delivery vehicles safely and accurately.
- Prepare, process, and deliver mail and packages using appropriate equipment and systems.
- Maintain accurate departmental records, including package tracking, mailbox management, inventory, and billing information.
- Provide professional customer service and accurate information regarding Mail Center procedures, postal services, and shipping options.
- Maintain a professional and customer service-oriented environment while communicating effectively with students, faculty, staff, vendors, and visitors.
- Follow established procedures, policies, safety requirements, schedules, and supervisory instructions, exercising sound judgment and communicating operational concerns as appropriate.
- Complete assigned duties accurately, efficiently, and within established timelines while adapting to changing operational needs.
- Maintain reliable attendance, adhere to assigned schedules, and provide appropriate work area coverage.
- Work independently and collaboratively to support Mail Center operations and respond appropriately to supervision, feedback, and procedural changes.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties, including recordkeeping, billing support, mailbox administration, mail forwarding, and departmental communications.
- Maintain clean, organized, safe, and secure work areas, equipment, and vehicles.
- Protect the confidentiality and security of mail, packages, customer information, and departmental records, and promptly report operational issues, safety concerns, or damaged or missing items.
- Actively support the College’s Principles of Community and Institutional Values in the performance of job duties.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
The individual must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using another combination of skills and abilities.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions, policies, procedures, schedules, and safety requirements.
- Ability to maintain reliable attendance, arrive on time, adhere to assigned work break schedules.
- Ability to maintain professional, respectful workplace conduct and communication.
- Ability to respond appropriately to supervisory direction, coaching, constructive feedback, changing priorities, and workplace responsibilities while demonstrating accountability and initiative.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately sort, process, track, store, forward, and distribute mail and packages.
- Ability to prioritize work, remain organized, manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and remain productive in a fast-paced environment.
