* JOB PURPOSE:
** As an administrative and program support for professional and undergraduate staff, this position is an integral part of the Queer Resource Center (QRC). The Graduate Assistants’ (GA) primary responsibility is to assist the Director, Assistant Director, and undergraduate student staff (e.g., Student Associates) with the organization and execution of events, programs, and special projects in and out of the QRC focused on LGBTQIA+ (i.e., lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, asexual or agender) individuals and communities.
In particular, the GA will assist in planning, executing, and scheduling programming efforts across The Claremont Colleges (TCC). The GA will also be required to complete tasks that will focus on their academic, personal, and professional development.

* ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
** As a Queer and Questioning Mentor Program (QQMP) Head Mentor, you are expected to understand, focus on, and enact the primary goal of QQMP. The primary goal of QQMP is to provide mentorship and support for the personal growth and identity development of our mentees, who hold various LGBTQIA identities and those who are questioning. QQMP endeavors to help mentees develop a positive identity by connecting them with mentors who are part of a larger community.
Head Mentors are responsible for developing community and agency among mentors who are the driving force of the program. The Head Mentor is also QRC staff member and if needed will perform duties of a student associate. Additional duties and responsibilities include:
• Work with the QRC Assistant Dean and Director, Assistant Director, and undergraduate student staff to plan and implement QRC events, including collaborative programs with other campus departments and organizations (i.e., Gaypril, Lavender Graduation, etc.)
• Advise undergraduate student staff with reviewing and developing program proposals including providing leadership development, event support, and general mentoring
• Serve as the QRC liaison with the Queer Graduate Union serving Keck Graduate Institute and Claremont Graduate University
• Create and manage the monthly QRC newsletter
• Check the QRC email account and respond to emails as needed
• Facilitate Allyship Workshops to Claremont College students (and possibly faculty and staff as needed)
• Assist in the assessment of events, programs, and special projects related to student learning outcomes
• Assist with additional departmental programs, including but not limited to planning staff retreats and aiding with weekly staff meetings (e.g., facilitating, note taking)
• When appropriate, participate in campus-wide committees, meetings, workshops, trainings, and events related to LGBTQIA+ topics

This position must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the job or must be able to demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed (with or without reasonable accommodation) using other knowledge, skills and abilities not listed below:
• Prior leadership experience including mentoring, event/program planning, club leadership, etc.
• Demonstrates a history of volunteer, activist, and/or organizational involvement
• Willingness to learn and take an active role in social justice communities at The Claremont Colleges
