The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors for the following Biocon‑Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) Program course:

BSCI 5000 - Molecular Biotechnology

The Biocon‑KGI Certificate Program in Biosciences is offered in partnership with an Indian Biopharmaceutical company that has a global presence in the areas of diabetes, cancer, and autoimmune diseases. This program trains recent college graduates in various areas of drug development, preparing them for industry roles.

Course Description

In this course, students learn the conceptual foundations of biotechnology and the application of molecular biology principles in advancing the field. It is a case‑based course that explores landmark papers and patents that shaped biotechnology. Upon completion, students gain an understanding of the concepts and techniques currently used in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry.

Education and Experience

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in a related field; a doctoral degree is strongly preferred.

• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience; prior experience in active learning is preferred.

• Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Provides high‑quality student instruction.
  • Evaluates student performance (e.g., written assignments, examinations, in‑class activities).
  • Provides remedial instruction as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team and collaboratively with other departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to listen to all points of view, build consensus, and inform others of policies and decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
Hours, Classification, and Status

This part‑time, exempt adjunct faculty position is not eligible for benefits. Schedules will vary depending on course assignments. The base salary range is $2,500–$15,000 per semester, depending on credits per course.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to maintain good concentration while dealing with interruptions; attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to formulate work plans and articulate goals. Requires sitting and standing for extended periods, reaching, and hand dexterity for activities such as typing. Requires vision and hearing within normal parameters, and the ability to bend, stoop, move about, and lift up to 20 lbs. Locally travel may be required.
