Position Summary

The Psychology Field Group at Pitzer College is recruiting a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Psychology:
Developmental Psychology. Desired areas of specialization include Cognitive Development or Education. A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a relevant discipline is required. Candidates must be prepared to teach courses in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, and teach a specialized research course.

Teaching Responsibilities

Teaching load is five courses per academic year, typically reduced to four courses in the first year. Courses include introductory psychology, mid-level courses in developmental, cognitive, and/or educational psychology, research methods, specialized research practica and seminar courses in the candidate’s area(s) of specialization, and occasionally a writing-intensive first‑year seminar.

Qualifications

Candidates should be teacher‑scholars whose work intersects with Pitzer College core values of social responsibility, intercultural understanding, interdisciplinary learning, student engagement, and environmental sustainability. Candidates are expected to articulate these connections in the cover letter.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $93,000 – $95,000.

Salary will be set based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
