PRIMARY PURPOSE/

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Director of Career Planning & Resources, the CP&R Graduate Assistant advances the mission of Career Planning & Resources by supporting career counseling services, facilitating career education initiatives, and supporting employer engagement efforts that create meaningful connections between Scripps students and the broader professional community.

Career Planning and Resources is seeking to hire two part-time temporary Graduate Assistants for the  academic year.

DESCRIPTION OF

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Career Counseling and Student Engagement
  • Collaborate with CP&R’s career education team to develop, coordinate, and facilitate programming, including workshops, panels, and other student engagement initiatives.
  • Administer and interpret standardized assessment instruments such as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory, and Clifton Strengths.
  • Support students and alumnae seeking graduate school and gap year opportunities
  • Provide counseling appointments for students and alumnae during drop-in hours and scheduled appointment time slots.
  • Assist with tracking, assessment, and reporting of student engagement and program outcomes data.
  • Active support for the College’s Principles of Community and Institutional Values in the performance of job duties.
  • Represent Scripps Career Planning and Resources during speaking/tabling opportunities, including class visits, and student organizations.
Employer & Community Engagement
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director of Career Planning & Resources to support employer engagement initiatives and expand opportunities for students to connect with employers, alumnae, families of Scripps, and industry professionals.
  • Assists the Associate Director with outreach to employers, alumnae, and families of Scripps to invite participation in career panels, networking events, career treks, and other career exploration opportunities.
  • Supports the Associate Director in maintaining employer and volunteer communications, preparing outreach materials, tracking engagement, and providing timely follow-up with external partners
  • Helps cultivate positive relationships with employer and community partners by providing timely communication, follow-up, and support throughout the engagement process.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with multiple technology platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations of students, alumni, employers, and campus partners.
  • Candidate should possess a commitment to women’s education and an interest in working in a collaborative and creative environment that empowers students and alums to fulfill their potential.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree required and currently enrolled in a graduate program through December 2026, preferably in Education, Counseling, Higher Education/Student Affairs, Psychology, or a related field.

Student-facing experience, group facilitation experience, and clerical or office experience are preferred, or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position.

OTHER: HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:

This is a temporary status, part-time (no more than 16 hours per week), non-benefits-eligible, non-exempt position.

This position is expected to end on or before May 15, 2027, and may be extended based upon mutual agreement by both parties.
