Position Overview:

The primary responsibilities of the Adjunct Faculty member are the development and delivery of lectures, laboratory sessions, and clinical skills for Master of Science in Physician Associate Studies (MSPA) program students in MSPA 5144 Clinical and Diagnostic Skills (24 hours) during the Fall semester (September 18 to December 11). In this course, students learn basic clinical and diagnostic skills to include interpretation of diagnostic testing and the performance of clinical procedures.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate active learning strategies and an engaging classroom environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use creative approaches to academic program development, have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work effectively in a team environment.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of a Master's degree (from an ARC-PA accredited program or equivalent post PA-C Master's degree) A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a PA including proficiency in performing clinical procedures in a clinical setting. A current NCCPA certification and current PA licensure or eligibility for PA licensure in California.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Teaches 30-hours in the 4-credit hour, semester-long course for 15 weeks;
• Designs active learning activities to build technical skills;
• Develops formative and summative assessments with case studies and lab practicals;
• Evaluates student performance (e.g., written assignments, examinations, lab practicals);
• Other duties as assigned.

Hours, Classification, and Status:

This is a part-time, exempt, adjunct faculty position and is not eligible for benefits.

Schedules will vary depending on course assignments and the needs of the department or the Institute.

The base salary range for this position is $2,500 - $15,000 per semester, depending on credits per course.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to maintain good concentration level while dealing with interruptions; attention to details with emphasis on accuracy; capable of giving, receiving, and analyzing information, formulating work plans, and articulating goals and action plans. Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Standing for extended periods of time. Reaching and extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard.

Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal parameters. Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file. Ability to move about. Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages.

Ability to travel locally as needed to meet business requirements, which may include driving or other modes of transportation. Occasionally, will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time at activities/events on and off-campus.
