Schedule: Fridays, approximately 3 onsite hours per week 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Compensation: $35 per hour
Lingo Stars Extension Program is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and creative bilingual Preschool Spanish Instructor. The instructor will plan and lead a playful, developmentally appropriate Spanish enrichment program for preschool-aged children every Friday.
The ideal candidate is fluent in Spanish and English, understands how young children learn through play and repetition, and enjoys using music, movement, storytelling, games, art, and hands-on activities.
Schedule and PayThis position includes approximately three paid hours per week
:
- Two hours onsite each Friday
- One hour of paid lesson-planning and preparation time
Compensation is $35 per hour
, averaging approximately $455 per month
. Actual monthly compensation will vary according to the number of Fridays worked.
- Plan and lead an engaging, one-hour Spanish enrichment class each Friday.
- Prepare a written weekly lesson plan based on an age-appropriate theme.
- Introduce useful Spanish vocabulary and simple phrases through play.
- Use songs, dancing, movement, stories, puppets, visual aids, games, art, and sensory activities.
- Keep lessons active and varied to support preschool attention spans.
- Regularly review previously introduced vocabulary.
- Create a positive, low-pressure environment that encourages children to speak Spanish.
- Introduce traditions, music, stories, and celebrations from Spanish-speaking cultures respectfully and inclusively.
- Adapt activities for different developmental levels, learning styles, language abilities, and individual needs.
- Maintain active supervision and follow all preschool health, safety, behavior-management, and allergy procedures.
- Prepare, organize, and safely store teaching materials.
- Clean the instructional area and materials after each class.
- Communicate professionally with children, families, classroom staff, and the director.
- Share class themes, vocabulary, songs, and activities with families and staff.
- Completion of at least 12 postsecondary semester units, or equivalent quarter units, in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from an accredited or approved institution, including the required core units.
- At least six months of experience working in a licensed childcare center.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Ability to communicate clearly and teach developmentally appropriate lessons to preschool-aged children.
- Ability to meet all applicable background-check, health-screening, and childcare licensing requirements.
- [Current CPR and First Aid certification, if required.].
- Experience teaching Spanish to young children.
- Experience using music, movement, storytelling, games, art, and hands-on activities in an early-childhood setting.
- Strong lesson-planning and classroom-management skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm, creativity, reliability, and cultural sensitivity.
