Position Overview

Sponsored Research Coordinator provides administrative and research‑development support to faculty, coordinates pre‑award activities, ensures proposal compliance, maintains grant resources, and helps translate grant language into accessible impact summaries for Advancement colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Assist grant seekers with documentation and deadline reminders.
  • Upload and manage proposals using portals such as Grants.gov, Proposal Central, Research.gov, and eRA Commons.
  • Support proposal budgeting and review of institutional boilerplate language.
  • Track funding opportunities, proposal deadlines, routing approvals, and faculty projects with donor relevance.
  • Maintain a research‑to‑donor alignment inventory, including the Faculty Research Index, and translate grant language into impact summaries.
  • Update and preserve a centralized repository of grant submission materials and institutional policies.
  • Draft annual sponsored research reports and support related stewardship tasks.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field; equivalent education and experience may qualify.
  • Experience in research development, grant compliance, or federal grant portals preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations, including the Uniform Guidance, and guidance on federally‑funded projects.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience producing newsletters and reports.
  • Ability to critically read and interpret grant solicitations and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with budget development and management.
Work Hours & Benefits

Full‑time, 12‑month position; regular hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday‑Friday. Flexibility for occasional holidays, weekends, or evenings may be required. Benefits‑eligible (health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, retirement plan, paid vacation, sick leave, and more).

Salary

Hourly rate: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Reporting

Reports to the Executive Director of Advancement, Strategic Partnerships.
