Commercial HVAC Service Technician
to join their team in Claremont, California. This is a full-time, onsite position working five days per week on The Claremont Colleges campus.

About this role:

As a Commercial HVAC Service Technician, you'll bring senior-level technical expertise to the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of commercial HVAC systems throughout The Claremont Colleges.

This isn't a role focused on just one type of equipment or building. You'll work across a broad range of commercial systems—including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, DX and VRF systems, air handlers, pumps, refrigeration equipment, and building automation controls—while helping ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of campus facilities.

The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position participates in an on-call rotation that includes weekends and may occasionally require holiday, evening, or overtime work.

Your Contribution Will Likely Include

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, DX systems ranging from 2 to 200 tons, split systems, ducted and ductless VRF systems, water pumps, heat pumps, fans, air handling units, heating units, refrigeration equipment, and air compressors.
  • Use blueprints, manufacturer instructions, and technical documentation to determine the appropriate sequence of operations for maintaining, repairing, and adjusting HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Conduct preventive and special maintenance inspections, evaluate equipment condition, and recommend repairs that support long-term system reliability.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic issues using appropriate diagnostic and testing equipment.
  • Replace and service compressors, pumps, pump seals, motors, and related components.
  • Adjust and calibrate pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical controls for proper temperature and pressure settings.
  • Access and navigate building automation control systems through front-end computer terminals.
