About the Prototype Test Engineer Role
The Prototype Test Engineer develops equipment that ensures quality of all production products and validates design goals by building test systems for cold plate functionality. This electromechanical role involves design, development, and maintenance of test procedures, tester hardware, and software for production.

Mikros Technologies liquid cooling systems are deployed in servers in large AI data centers to increase energy efficiency. Active liquid cooling systems are also used in semiconductor test equipment for rapid thermal control.
Responsibilities- Review designs for testability requirements.
- Support manufacturing with failure analysis, tester debugging, and reduction of intermittent failures and downtime.
- Prepare recommendations for testing and documentation of procedures from the design phase through initial production.
- Generate reports and analysis of test data, and prepare documentation and recommendations.
- Review test equipment designs, data, and RMA issues with customers regularly.
- Design and direct engineering and technical personnel in fabrication of testing and test control apparatus and equipment.
- Analyze and interpret test data and prepare technical reports for test engineering and management personnel.
- Develop or use computer software and hardware to conduct tests on machinery and equipment as directed by supervisor.
- Comply with all company security policies.
Education
:
Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering.
Experience
:
- 5+ years of related experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Test Engineering, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of mechatronics and/or electromechanical systems.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Previous test experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment preferred.
- Knowledge of metrology of fluid systems is a plus.
- Experience with Linux or other scripting languages preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
:
- Detailed knowledge of key development tools and design standards: 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis, tolerances, manufacturing principles, interference checks.
- Broad knowledge of developing high‑complexity projects requiring engineering design specializations such as tolerance analysis, DFM, and serviceability.
- Lead mechanical engineering projects with multiple engineers assigned.
- Lead cross‑functional and ME design reviews.
- Detailed knowledge of industry/regulatory and safety standards.
- Influence others and share best practices.
- Effective communication in English.
- Work as part of a global team.
- Assess a project and articulate risk while developing milestones.
- Develop projects in a stage‑gate process (PLCQ).
- Mentor less experienced engineers.
