As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead highly complex mechanical hardware designs for customer or innovation projects and manage a small team of design engineers. Additional responsibilities include ensuring technical milestones are achieved, guiding other team members' designs, leading technical design reviews, and ensuring specification requirements input and design outputs align.

Mikros Technologies (a Jabil company) liquid cooling systems are deployed on servers in large AI data centers and help to increase the energy efficiency of these sites. We also make active liquid cooling systems that are utilized in semiconductor test equipment for providing fast thermal control to maintain a constant temperature under a varying heat load.

What will you do?
  • Partners with system architects to review and clarify design requirements and define the appropriate mechanical/thermal architecture.
  • Expertly assemble prototypes and verify form/fit/function.
  • Work with and manage external component suppliers/manufacturers and provide input to their product roadmaps.
  • Communicate technical aspects of a project effectively to internal and external customers.
  • Define design innovations and potential patentable solutions.
  • Lead resolution of complex design issues and manage design trade-offs.
  • Lead in developing and validating complex mechanical products that are required across all Business Units.
  • Lead and supervise mechanical layouts utilizing standard tools.
  • Direct all aspects of mechanical design with minimal supervision.
  • Manage, coach and train engineers with less experience.
How will you get here? Education
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • MSME/PhD is preferred.
Experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in mechanical design and/or verification or other key competency.
  • Demonstrated experience in full cycle mechanical design and releasing products into a production environment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Detailed knowledge and use of key development tools and design standards: 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis, Tolerances, Manufacturing Principles, Interference Checks.
  • Broad knowledge developing high complexity projects that have required one or more of Mechanical Engineering Design specializations or competencies:
    Tolerance Analysis, DFM, Serviceability.
  • Leads mechanical engineering projects with multiple engineers assigned.
  • Leads cross-functional and ME design reviews.
  • Detail knowledge of industry or specific sector, regulatory and safety standards.
  • Influences others and shares best practices.
  • Effectively communicates with good understanding of English.
  • Works as part of a global team.
  • Assesses a project and articulates risk while developing project milestones.
  • Develops projects in a stage-gate process (PLCQ).
  • Ability to mentor less experienced engineers.
