Must be willing to float to units where experienced. Covid vaccination required; declinations/exemptions are not accepted. Locals residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be accepted.

Description:

This assignment location is in a very rural area with limited housing options and public transportation. Candidates must have their own transportation. Candidates should be aware of the housing options available at the time of submission. Observe each resident on a continuing basis, alert to changes in mental and physical well-being. Notify the Supervisor of pertinent observations and discuss the need to notify the physician.

Receive Resident Status Report from the off-going shift and give a detailed report to the oncoming shift. Accurately receive, transcribe, and carry out physician orders. Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician. Document properly via a computerized system of MARs/TARs and electronic documentation. Order and maintain all pharmaceuticals for the units. Supervise nursing assistants in accordance with licensing requirements.

Assign and measure nursing staff resident care consistent with abilities and job descriptions. Supervise the care given, assisting direct-care staff with nursing care as necessary. Accompany the physician on resident rounds to address residents' medical needs. Facilitate communication during the 60-day review. Administer the provision of oxygen in accordance with facility guidelines and procedures. Administer gastrostomy/jejunostomy feedings following policy and procedure.

Perform wound care and have knowledge of wound vacs. Perform regular duties on the unit such as checking appointments for the day. Check Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy appointments. Review activity boards and remind staff of ambulation lists and other needed documentation. Monitor nursing assistant documentation and update records as necessary. Oversee infection control practices and ensure the unit is clean and hazard-free.

Report any problems following the chain of command. Encourage nursing assistant observations and include their input when documenting and reporting. Admit, discharge, and transfer residents, completing necessary documentation and notifications. Complete a 24-hour report for assigned units and check new orders. Maintain consistent communication with the Nursing Supervisor regarding resident issues or staff concerns. Differentiate between acute and non-emergency problems and attend all mandatory staff meetings.

Communicate with residents' families to resolve concerns and notify family members of new orders. Obtain consent when necessary. Receive incoming calls and determine the appropriate response required. Assume responsibility for the management of assigned units during the shift under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor or Director of Nursing Services. Follow State and Federal Regulations regarding the storage, usage, and documentation of controlled medications.

Notify the Supervisor if discrepancies are present. Assist with the orientation of new nursing employees on assigned units. Communicate continuing education needs of nursing staff and assist in delivering staff education and training as needed. Encourage and assign staff to attend in-service education meetings. Evaluate assigned nursing staff members according to facility policy and procedure. Initiate or effectively recommend disciplinary action as necessary.
