We are looking for a strong, dynamic teacher of English to work with our sixth form students at Progress Futures. Working with small class sizes of varying abilities, we require a teacher who is student‑centred and able to effectively differentiate to meet student needs. You need to be a forward thinker, embrace technology and believe in transforming the futures for our young people.
In addition to English you will lead the PSHCE curriculum across the sixth form and also head up student wellbeing. This is an amazing opportunity to join a progressive team and truly transform the lives of vulnerable young people.

Skills:
Ability to engage learners and support their ambitions. To bring fresh ideas and creativity to the classroom and outside it. - Emotional Support: Passionate about making a positive impact on students’ lives.
- Academic Background: Degree in a relevant teaching subject, equivalent for SEN (desirable).
- Core Teaching
Qualifications:
QTS/QTLS/DET or willing to work towards it. Specialist Teaching Qualification (Desirable). - Experience: Have worked in a school environment. Particularly, experience in SEND and/or sixth form would be an added advantage.
- Teaching Subjects: English.
- Knowledge: Have an understanding of specialist provision and dealing with students with additional needs.
- Problem‑Solving: Aptitude for solving problems and making effective decisions.
- Communication: Professional communication with students and staff.
- Promotion of Values: Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, safeguarding, wellbeing, and British values.
- Time Management: Effective time management for planning, delivery, and assessment.
Progress Futures is part of Progress Arc (also within The Progress Group), the Group is made up of six business units, each of which aspires to innovate, influence, and inspire others through high‑quality and purposeful education and training. Progress Arc is based in Billinge, Wigan and Progress Futures is the sixth form within the school.
