Position: Grades 6 - 8 Grades 9 - 12 Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Claremore, Oklahoma
Empower students to thrive by utilizing your sign language expertise in a dynamic school-based setting. You'll collaborate closely as an interpreter, supporting students in grades K-12 with a focus on high school learners who benefit greatly from individualized communication support.

This contract opportunity offers full-time (35-37.5 hours/week) and part-time (Monday, Thursday, Friday) schedules working 1:1 with students, including a role providing critical access to a high school student with severe and profound needs. Flexibility is key, as you'll accompany the student between buildings (a short distance) to ensure seamless assistance throughout the day, generally from 8:40 AM to 4:15 PM.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • EIPA Score of 4.0 or above, or RID/NAD certification required
  • Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST) Level III or higher
  • At least 2 years' sign language interpreting experience, preferably in educational settings
  • Comfortable serving diverse age groups, from Kindergarten through 12th grade
  • Ability to adapt to changing classroom environments and student needs
  • Professional demeanor with strong communication and teamwork abilities
Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and interactions for D/HH students
  • Foster accessible and inclusive learning environments across grades and instructional settings
  • Provide direct, individualized support to high school students, including those with severe or profound needs
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions
  • Collaborate with teachers, aides, and special education teams to optimize student success
  • Travel with assigned students as needed to ensure continuity of services
