OverviewFunction:
Environmental, Health & Safety
The Field Safety Specialist enhances safety within the Verdigris Complex by collaborating with all employees to ensure compliance with EHS principles through team building, training, goal setting, auditing, and incident investigation. You will identify improvement opportunities, implement safety programs, and impact personal safety, emergency preparedness, and response performance. As an important member of the CF Industries team, the specialist leads and trains teams to maintain high safety standards and positively influence the site's safety culture.
This is a safety-sensitive position that reports to the Safety Superintendent, works onsite with two other Field Safety Specialists, and is part of the EHS team.
- SAFETY:
- Train employees in EHS policies through meetings and sessions.
- Promote safe work practices by mentoring, coaching, and observing employees.
- Address employee safety suggestions and concerns.
- Conduct daily safety audits of work activities.
- Develop and update safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and identify improvements.
- Assist management in implementing safe practices.
- Investigate EHS incidents and assign action items.
- Participate in safe work planning and pre-job risk assessments.
- Participate in process safety management and ERT activities.
- HEALTH:
- Develop and implement the industrial hygiene monitoring program.
- Perform exposure evaluations and sampling.
- Implement controls to reduce exposure.
- Train employees in protection against chemical and physical agents.
- Help with emergency response.
- SECURITY:
- Support implementation and compliance with security procedures.
- Experience in EHS policy implementation in an industrial setting.
- Certifications in safety, industrial hygiene, or health (CSP, CIH, EMT) a plus.
- Prefer bachelor’s degree in safety related field.
