Job Summary
Serves in a leadership and management position in a tribal health hospital that provides ambulatory care and community health services. Assures that patient needs are met in a professional, friendly, caring, and culturally appropriate manner. Responsible for compliance with the laws, regulations, policies, and accreditation standards. Reviews and implements tribal and funding agency policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance.
Job Duties- Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for service in accordance with the self‑governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and the United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self‑Determination and Education Assistance Act.
- Assists the Senior Director, Hospital Administration with the overall management of the clinic in providing ambulatory care and community health services.
- Manages and maintains administrative documents and personnel files.
- Assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
- Reviews and approves inventory records and reports as required.
- Assists the Senior Director in facilitating hospital accreditation.
- Assists the Senior Director in the staffing and training of the assigned staff.
- Assists in reviewing and implementing tribal and funding agency policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Assists in monitoring hospital expenditures and assists in the preparation of budgets.
- Drafts correspondence, memorandums, and reports for the Hospital Administrator as needed.
- Ensures proper safety requirements are performed and met to ensure the safety of all clinic staff.
- Maintains GSA vehicle records, keys, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinates special projects as assigned by the Hospital Administrator.
- Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times and protects all personal health information as it relates to patient data. Other duties may be assigned.
Directly supervises more than 100 employees in the Health Services. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Master's degree; no substitutions. Health Administration preferred.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a related field.
- An individual should have knowledge of Database software;
Internet software;
Project Management software;
Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. - Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
- Employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA); or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report; or listed on the GSA's List of Excluded Providers; or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
- Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare.
- Educated and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
