Job Summary:

The Dietary Aide assists the Cook in providing nutritious and appealing meals to residents in a skilled nursing facility. This role involves assisting with meal preparation, serving food, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring that dietary needs are met according to individual resident care plans.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation:
    Assist with preparing and cooking meals according to menu plans and dietary guidelines. Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes.

  • Food Service:
    Serve meals and beverages to residents in a timely and courteous manner. Ensure that meals are presented attractively and at the appropriate temperature.

  • Dietary Compliance:
    Adhere to residents' dietary restrictions and preferences as outlined in their care plans. Maintain accurate records of special dietary requirements and report any deviations.

  • Cleanliness:
    Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety protocols. Perform regular cleaning of work areas, utensils, and equipment.

  • Communication:
    Report any changes in residents’ conditions to the Dietary Manager or Nurse Supervisor. Treats residents with dignity and respect. Shares information with other dietary staff to ensure resident meals are prepared timely and appropriately.

  • Inventory Management:
    Assist with inventory control by checking and storing food supplies. Report any shortages or expired items to the Dietary Manager.

  • Resident Interaction:
    Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner. Address any food-related concerns or preferences they may have.

  • Team

    Collaboration:

    Work closely with other dietary staff, nurses, and caregivers to ensure seamless meal service and address any resident needs.

  • Compliance:
    Follow all facility policies, health regulations, and safety procedures. Complete mandatory training and attend meetings as required.



Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    Previous experience in a food service or healthcare setting is a plus but not required. On the-job training will be provided.

  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Physical Requirements:

    Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, standing and walking for extended periods, and capability to handle hot and cold food items.

  • Basic understanding of food preparation and safety procedures.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a team environment.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food quality.
