Join our team as a night shift, PRN, Phlebotomist in Claremore, OK.
Responsibilities- Perform specimen collection techniques including venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction, and specimen culture collection instruction.
- Promote professionalism and collaborate with colleagues in a cooperative environment.
- Ensure specimens are obtained in accordance with laboratory guidelines.
- Communicate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care providers.
- Support organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Attain required competency and demonstrate the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols.
- Prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity.
- Follow proper protocols for specimen packaging and specimen transport.
- Accession specimens as assigned.
- Practice proper infection control, patient identification, and prompt specimen transport.
- Perform drug screen collection and processing as assigned.
- Answer laboratory department phone calls.
- Recognize emergent conditions and respond appropriately.
- Provide phlebotomy services in a professional and patient‑centered manner.
- Engage in self‑evaluation of practice and take action to improve knowledge and skills.
- Retain accountability for quality of care given to the patient.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Job Requirements
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or prior phlebotomy experience.
- Certification from a nationally recognized agency, such as:
- National Health Career Association – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT/NHA)
- American Society for Clinical Pathology – Phlebotomy Technician (PBT/ASCP)
- American Medical Technologists – Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT/AMT)
- National Center for Competency Testing – National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT/NCCT)
- American Certification Agency – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT/ACA)
- Experience working in a clinical setting.
