A Brief Summary of This Position

The Shipping Logistics Coordinator is an individual contributor responsible for helping shipping reach and maintain an on‑time delivery goal of 95% SCOT. The role involves daily communication with multiple sites, customer service representatives, finishers, dispatchers, supervisors, managers, and shipping personnel to ensure all products are delivered on time and per customer requirements. The coordinator gathers information on scheduled shipments, establishes short‑term priorities, and analyzes actions to determine their impact on business goals.

This position also ensures completed products are delivered to the shipping department within an acceptable timeframe to support on‑time delivery objectives and maintains a library of documents for customers and Valmont sites.

Essential Functions
  • Proactively recognize risks to shipping schedule compliance
  • Develop and execute action item plans to drive shipping schedule compliance
  • Seek daily communication from upstream departments to ensure product is correctly prioritized
  • Keep visual boards updated with correct information (job storage location and finisher boards)
  • Provide estimates and frequent updates regarding planned ship & delivery dates
  • Arrange priorities and expedite hot orders through finished processes to drive our Ship Complete on Time (SCOT) index metrics
  • Create, organize, and maintain document libraries of inventories at finishers of all new and finished goods on a daily basis
  • Review, input, and audit data with above‑average attention to detail and accuracy
Other Important Details about the Role
  • Coordinate with finishers and other Valmont sites to ensure product is complete and ready for shipment to meet on‑time delivery to the customer
  • Take responsibility for personal safety, reporting unsafe acts or conditions to the appropriate personnel
  • Maintain the quality and integrity of work, including reporting and data accuracy
  • Continuously improve the level of support provided to stakeholders, impacting the end‑customer
  • Support Shipping Leads and Supervisors, and perform other administrative tasks within the shipping department
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • High School Diploma / GED and 4+ years of related experience required, or Associates Degree
  • Ability to read and decipher blueprints
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Effectively communicate with key personnel via phone, email, and face‑to‑face
  • Possess knowledge of transportation terms & manufacturing processes
  • Ability to be exposed to outdoor elements for short durations of time
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 4+ years of experience, within a shipping/logistics coordination role
  • Experience with warehouse inventory systems
  • Experience with an ERP System (e.g., IFS)
Working Environment and Physical Efforts

Work is performed 80% in an office setting and 20% in the shipping yard. The incumbent regularly sits, stands, walks, talks, and handles paperwork while using a computer. Occasionally the employee lifts or moves items up to 15 pounds. Proper ergonomic safeguards (monitor height, keyboard placement, wrist rests) are required. The role includes occasional outdoor exposure and handling of material‑handling equipment such as forklifts, straddle trucks, and shag trucks.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, and personal protective equipment such as hand, hearing, eye, and head protection is required.
