Structural Fitter Welder
The structural fitter welder constructs, positions, and joins metal parts like I-beams, columns, and plates using specialized welding and fitting techniques. Key responsibilities include layout and fit-up, welding operations, material preparation, quality inspection, and safety and maintenance.
Requirements and qualifications include 2 to 5 years of verifiable fitting and welding experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting, strong blueprint reading, math aptitude, proficiency with shop tools and cranes, ability to pass standard plate weld tests, and the ability to stand for long shifts and regularly lift heavy materials up to 50–70 lbs.
