Job Description

Monday – Thursday, 5:00 am – 3:30 pm. Must be able to pass 1G on Metal Core and 3G on Flux weld test.

Structural welders fabricate, repair, and install high‑stress metal frameworks for infrastructure such as buildings, bridges, and ships. They join steel components—columns, girders, and other load‑bearing elements—using stick (SMAW), MIG, TIG, and flux‑cored welding (FCAW). The role requires interpretation of blueprints, operation and maintenance of welding equipment, and work on‑site to maintain structural integrity.

• Fabrication and erection:
  Assemble structural steel frames of buildings, bridges, and offshore oil platforms.
• Welding techniques:
  Utilize stick, MIG, TIG, and FCAW to fuse thick metal components.
• Cutting and repair:
  Use torches to cut, modify, or repair existing structural metal.
• Reading blueprints:
  Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure precise placement of structural components.
• Quality inspection:
  Check welds for defects, ensuring they meet AWS standards and safety codes.
• Safety adherence:
  Operate safely in demanding environments, often at heights, while following strict safety protocols.
• Pass qualification tests:
  Achieve 1G on metal core and 3G on flux weld test as required.
