GeneralPurpose
Under the general supervision of the Electric Director, General foreman and the crew foreman, and is an experienced, fully trained and certified journeyman lineman performing complex work in the construction, operation, maintenance and repairs of power and lighting distribution systems; restores power, maintains lines and related/associated equipment used in overhead and underground service and substations to provide reliable service. The incumbent exercises independent decision making in accomplishing specific assignments and works under the general supervision of the Crew Chief.
This position works on all aspects of the Claremore electric distribution system and spends much of the time training or instructing apprentice linemen to learn skills, principles and procedures required of apprenticeship training. The foreman is responsible for the safety of everyone on his crew and is responsible for the conduct of everyone on his crew. The incumbent is responsible for the equipment that is provided as well as making sure the jobs are completed in a timely, safe, effective manner.
Functions
- Performs complex installation, operation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical power lines, systems, and associated/related equipment.
- Performs complex construction, operation, maintenance and repair of transmission and substation facilities.
- Completes multiple service calls concerning power outages and electrical problems.
- Operates motorized equipment, uses hand tools and performs routine maintenance on electrical equipment, machinery and tools.
- Uses climber’s belt and tools and climb poles.
- Follows safety guidelines as set forth by OSHA, NESC and APPA.
- Works on all aspects of the electric distribution system.
- Must be willing to periodically perform stand‑by and call‑back duties and be available for call outs during off duty hours.
- Must live within twenty‑five (25) miles of Electric warehouse.
- Provides training both in book/classroom skills and on the job skills.
- Shall stock and service vehicles to be equipped to respond to emergency situations.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge: Complete knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in electrical distribution system maintenance work; complete knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; complete knowledge of the principles of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuits and wiring systems and ability to apply this knowledge to work situations. Demonstrate the knowledge of proper methods, procedures and safety precautions of line work.
