Substitute Bus Driver – District Employee Assigned to Claremore Campus
Job Type: Non‑Exempt, Support, Substitute, 10‑month Staff
Reports to:
Maintenance Supervisor
Schedule:
Monday through Friday. Hours are intermittent and vary depending on assigned bus route. Supervisor reserves right to adjust schedule and duties based on district needs.
Wage: $33.80 per hour
Primary FunctionResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drive a school bus and safely transport high school students to and from campus.
- Perform daily bus inspections (pre‑trip and post‑trip) and maintain bus cleanliness.
- Maintain order while in transit and follow state guidelines.
- Transport between Northeast Technology Center and partner high schools up to three times per day, or as directed.
- Conduct bus evacuation drills as required by state law.
- Adhere to schedule; attend required safety training quarterly and additional professional development as required.
- Perform any other bus or route related duties assigned by Supervisor or Superintendent.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Current valid Oklahoma School Bus Driving Certificate and a valid commercial driver’s license (air brake endorsement preferred).
- Completion of a school bus driver course and holding a current valid certificate.
- Annual health certificate from a licensed physician with no physical or mental impairments.
- Pass national criminal background check with fingerprints, DOT physical exam, and drug screening before start.
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
- No relation to any current school board member within second degree affinity or consanguinity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of English language composition, grammar, and spelling.
- Ability to adapt priorities and schedules as needed.
- Calm and professional demeanor with various personalities.
- Capacity to care for oneself and perform manual tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Attend required safety training (video or in person) quarterly.
- Attend professional development training opportunities as required by district policy.
- Attend meetings and provide information to Administration or Board as requested.
- Mostly outside while operating or inspecting bus.
- Occasional use of standard office equipment.
- Moderate physical effort required for inspections, cleaning, and assisting students.
- Ability to see, hear, walk, stand, lift, bend, reach, climb, speak, breathe, learn, read, concentrate, think, and perform tasks with or without accommodation.
- Regular attendance required; readiness for extended hours and evenings.
