About the Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established electrical contractor with decades of experience supporting utility, industrial, and wireless construction projects. The organization is experiencing continued growth and is seeking a skilled Electrical Estimator to support expanding pre-construction and bidding efforts.
This role plays a critical part in the project lifecycle by delivering accurate, competitive cost estimates that directly support successful project awards and long-term profitability.
Position SummaryThe Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects. This individual will analyze drawings and specifications, perform quantity take-offs, solicit vendor and subcontractor pricing, and develop comprehensive bid proposals. The role partners closely with project management, engineering, and field teams to validate scope, pricing assumptions, and risk factors.
Responsibilities- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and project documentation to understand full project scope
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work
- Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Prepare complete cost estimates and bid proposals including labor, materials, equipment, overhead, and profit
- Assist with bid submissions and ensure all RFP requirements and deadlines are met
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and job walks
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to validate assumptions
- Track historical cost data and market trends to improve estimating accuracy
- Support change order pricing and estimate revisions
- Maintain organized documentation throughout pre-construction and handoff phases
Education & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of electrical estimating experience in a construction or contracting environment
- Experience supporting utility, industrial, or infrastructure projects strongly preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating tools
- Experience with take-off and estimating software such as Accubid, Trimble, On-Screen Takeoff, or Bluebeam preferred
- Solid understanding of electrical drawings, specifications, and construction methods
