Packaging Engineer II

Currently seeking a Packaging & Product Development Manager/Engineer for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Clark, NJ. Details for the position are as follows:

• We are seeking a Senior Manager-level Packaging & Product Development professional to join our team in Clark, NJ. This role will manage transversal PPD development projects, including strategic catalog updates, plant transfers, and new product launches. The position is intended as a temporary backfill for a team member on maternity leave, with the potential to fully manage a product launch independently once onboarded.
• Ideal candidates are seasoned developers with strong leadership skills, preferably with prior L’Oréal experience or a proven ability to quickly learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

• Develop and manage project timelines, identifying key tasks and milestones while minimizing risks to ensure on-time launches in compliance with L’Oréal Quality System.
• Present launch and transversal project reviews, driving risk escalations to Operational and Divisional leadership teams.
• Guide Marketing in new innovation product briefs and conception definitions to ensure design aligns with Agility, Profitability, and L’Oréal For the Future (L4TF) initiatives.
• Engage Operations and cross-functional stakeholders for project ownership and execution.
• Lead project review meetings, addressing and resolving roadblocks impacting project timelines.
• Analyze launch feasibility regarding cost, timeline, and sustainability.
• Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices within the Packaging & Product Development discipline.
• Partner with Marketing, Operations, and R&I on harmonization, profitability, and sustainability initiatives.
• Manage plant transfers as required.
• Act as a communication link between the Division and Industrial teams.
• Manage all aspects of projects through QCP processes.
• Conduct feasibility, cost, and COG analyses; provide value analysis support to plants and teams.
• Coordinate R&D on packaging components and product development efforts.
• Provide guidance and development support to team members as needed.
• Organize meetings, maintain minutes, and follow up on action items.

• Experience:
  
  Minimum 7 years in package/product development and project management, preferably in cosmetics, consumer goods, or related industries.
• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Operations, or related technical discipline.
• Preferred: L’Oréal experience (previous contractor with at least 12 months left in tenure OR at least 6 months since leaving L’Oréal; ex-employee possible with HR approval).
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, agility, and ability to inspire teams.
• Technical packaging experience is a plus.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and build collaborative relationships.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing products for global markets preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications.
• Onsite presence required.
