We are seeking a Payroll & Benefits Manager to manage payroll and employee benefits administration. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Clark, NJ area. Responsibilities include overseeing payroll processing, administering benefits programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, handling garnishments, and supporting HRIS-related activities to maintain accurate employee records. The role involves collaborating with HR and finance teams to streamline processes and provide exceptional service to employees.
Key Responsibilities Payroll Management- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multi-state workforce (hourly, salaried, exempt/non-exempt employees)
- Administer payroll through Paycom, including configuration, reporting, audits, and system optimization
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Oversee payroll tax filings, garnishments, deductions, and year-end processes (W-2s, 1099s)
- Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity
- Lead payroll audits and coordinate with Finance for reconciliations and reporting
- Stay current on wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- Oversee administration of health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), and ancillary benefits
- Serve as primary liaison with benefit brokers and vendors
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations
- Analyze benefits utilization and costs; recommend enhancements or cost-saving strategies
- Support employee inquiries related to payroll, deductions, and benefits coverage
- Develop and improve payroll and benefits processes for efficiency and scalability
- Maintain compliance with federal and state employment laws
- Prepare payroll and benefits reports for leadership
- Assist with audits, including workers’ compensation and 401(k) audits
- Maintain internal controls and process documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 2+ years in a managerial or lead role
- Hands-on experience administering payroll through Paycom
- Experience processing multi-state payroll for 500+ employees
- Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and benefits compliance
- Experience managing benefit programs and open enrollment processes
- Advanced proficiency in payroll reporting and data analysis
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification
- Experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or distribution environments
- Experience with high-volume hourly workforce and variable compensation structures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
- Strong communication and employee service orientation
- Process-driven with continuous improvement mindset
