Payroll Administrator

Steptoe & Johnson is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to oversee the firm's bi-weekly payroll for more than 800 employees. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, tax compliance, payroll reporting, and employee support.

• Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain payroll records in the HRIS system.
• Manage payroll changes, direct deposits, leave accruals, garnishments, and tax filings.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and assist new hires with payroll documentation.
• Coordinate payroll-related reporting, audits, and vendor file transmissions.
• Support 401(k) administration and annual audits.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing and administration experience.
• Experience with HRIS/HCM systems preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
• Full-time, non-exempt position
• 37.5 hours per week
• Office-based environment
• Occasional overtime may be required during payroll cycles
