Technical Analyst Associate

Overview

This position serves as a district field engineer to ensure the implementation of the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) in an assigned District Office area.

• Conduct EPA mandated Sanitary Surveys of public water systems (PWSs).
• Provide technical/engineering assistance to PWS operators related to treatment and distribution of public drinking water.
• Conduct engineering reviews for Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council (IJDC) and Drinking Water Treatment Revolving Fund (DWTRF) funded projects.
• Conduct engineering review on construction permit applications.
• Respond to emergencies on-site and collect critical data during emergencies (floods, blizzards, spills, droughts, etc.) related to public health protection.
• Provide routine and emergency technical assistance to PWS operators.
• Assist in teaching PWS operator training courses to comply with State and Federal requirements.
• Advise and consult with public officials, consulting engineers, utility operators, property developers, and the general public regarding the best available public health engineering practices in accordance with WV State Code 16‑1‑9.
• Maintain a 24/7/365 on‑call schedule for emergency response and disaster relief.

• Training:
  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Engineering.
• Substitution:
  Bachelor's degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or university with a major in Civil, Electrical, Electrical Design, Mechanical, Chemical, or Mining Engineering Technology.
• Experience:
  
  Four (4) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid employment in engineering.
• Substitution:
  Master's degree in engineering may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
• Special Requirement: A valid driver’s license is required.
