Skana Aluminum Company is looking for a skilled and safety-focused Cold Mill Technician to join our team!

As a Mill Technician, you’ll play a key role in transforming aluminum coils into high-quality products our customers rely on. This is a hands‑on position that combines equipment operation, troubleshooting, quality control, material handling, and crew leadership
.

• Operate the rolling mill through intermediate and final passes across a variety of aluminum alloys and thicknesses.
• Process aluminum coils to meet required thickness, quality, and customer specifications

• Adjust mill speed, tension, coolant flow, and other operating conditions to achieve precise results.
• Start, operate, and monitor coils throughout the production process.
• Monitor roll and material temperatures and make adjustments as needed.
• Read and interpret production dispatches and properly sequence work.
• Monitor production and quality to keep the mill running efficiently.
• Complete roll changes from start to finish

• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes for roll changes and material handling.
• Step in and perform Cold Mill Operator, Assistant, and Trucker duties when needed.
• Prepare coils for processing and safely transport coils to and from the mill.
• Operate the Cardox system during an emergency.
• Reset the X-ray panel as needed.
• Communicate production, quality, and equipment concerns with teammates and supervisors.
• Complete required production and quality documentation.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

This position requires more than simply operating equipment. The Cold Mill Technician helps lead the crew, maintain production flow, troubleshoot problems, and make real‑time decisions to keep the mill operating safely and efficiently.

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and understand work instructions, technical specifications, and production paperwork
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, micrometers, and gauges
• Ability to safely operate industrial equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and production issues
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors

Preferred:

• Previous manufacturing or industrial experience
• Experience in a cold mill, rolling mill, or similar industrial environment
• Experience operating cranes, forklifts, or other material‑handling equipment
• Experience working with automated production controls or monitoring systems
• Basic computer experience for production reporting and documentation

This is a hands‑on manufacturing position in an industrial environment.

You'll regularly:

• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Operate machinery and controls
• Reach, handle tools, and inspect products
• Monitor gauges, equipment, and production data
• Work around moving mechanical equipment, vibration, and electrical hazards
• Wear required PPE, including hearing protection
• Occasionally lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds

Good vision, including depth perception and the ability to monitor equipment and read gauges, is important for this position.
