Overview
The West Virginia Department of Health Facilities is hiring dedicated Registered Nurses for our State Facility Travel Program. Compensation is $55/hour plus benefits, with an additional $5 per hour geographic differential for William R. Sharpe Hospital in Weston, WV. As a Travel Program RN, you will provide high-quality nursing care, assist with planning and evaluations, and support day‑to‑day clinical functions. Assignments may take place at one facility or rotate among several of the three DHF facilities, depending on your availability and current staffing needs. Assignments may be per diem or extend up to 12 months.
Applicants selected must successfully complete a criminal background check and a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug screening test. All employees are subject to drug testing for probable cause as set forth in policies. Travel may be required.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Care:
Administer top‑quality nursing care to patients and residents, ensuring the highest standards of practice. - Assessment and Evaluation:
Conduct intake assessments, administer first aid and medications, and perform health screenings. - Care Planning:
Assist in developing and evaluating individualized care plans, tailored to the unique needs of each patient. - Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date health records, documenting changes in condition and treatments. - Collaboration:
Work closely with physicians, supervisors, and other healthcare staff to coordinate and implement effective patient care. - Education and Training:
Guide LPNs, CNAs, and other staff; participate in orientation and training of new staff. - Administrative Duties:
Enter patient information into electronic systems, ensure adherence to policies and regulations, and communicate urgent medical needs. - Patient Advocacy:
Serve as liaison between patients, families, and providers, ensuring clear communication and understanding of care plans.
Current West Virginia license or temporary permit to practice as a registered nurse.
