Role Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant Program Chair is a full-time, on-site role located in Clarkston, GA. The Program Chair oversees all aspects of the Physical Therapist Assistant program, including curriculum development, course scheduling, and alignment with accreditation and regulatory standards. This role includes teaching didactic and laboratory courses, supervising clinical education experiences, and mentoring students to support academic success and professional readiness.

The Program Chair collaborates with faculty, clinical partners, and college leadership to assess program outcomes, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure high-quality instruction and student support. Additional responsibilities include participating in departmental and institutional committees, managing program resources, and engaging in professional development to stay current with trends in physical therapy and technical education.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in physical therapy or physical therapist assistant education, including curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment of student learning.
  • Strong leadership and program management abilities, such as coordinating faculty, overseeing clinical partnerships, and managing schedules, resources, and accreditation requirements.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, clinical site personnel, and community partners.
  • Commitment to learner-centered education, including experience teaching in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings and supporting diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and learning management systems, and the ability to support traditional and distance education delivery methods.
  • Master’s degree or higher in physical therapy or a related field; current or eligible licensure as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Georgia (or ability to obtain licensure promptly).
  • Relevant clinical experience in physical therapy practice, preferably including supervision or mentoring of students or new practitioners.
  • Experience with program accreditation processes (e.g., CAPTE) and knowledge of regulatory and professional standards for Physical Therapist Assistant education.
