The Patient Access Representative is responsible for the financial clearance of scheduled patients, including insurance verification and price estimation. This position will maintain a proficient understanding of insurance plans, including state Medicaid, employer-sponsored plans, Medicare Advantage plans and Qualified Health plans offered via the state Exchanges. The Patient Access Representative will determine benefit and coverage levels and connect patients with financial assistance resources as needed.
In all encounters with patients and families, the Patient Access Representative will strive for the highest level of customer service.
- Strong organizational stills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to adapt to various programs/systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to identify and solve problems independently.
- Ability to type and use telephone.
- Ability to assess and observe patients; communicate face to face and via telephone with patients, patient families, physicians and co-workers.
- Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration or equivalent college coursework, preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalency (GED) required
- 1 to 3 years insurance verification, revenue cycle functions, hospital/physician offices, or related area(s), preferred,
- 1-3 years customer service experience, required.
