About the PositionThe Clarkston School District is seeking an outstanding leader to serve as the Executive Director of Financial Services. We are looking for a leader who will be recognized as an individual known for showing personal character and acting with integrity. This position's responsibilities are the management of all aspects of the financial operations of the district. This position reports to the Superintendent and supervises the business office staff.

- Directs and manages the day-to-day activities of the Finance Office. Analyzes a variety of financial and staffing information for the purpose of providing direction and support to district leadership and staff, making recommendations, maximizing use of funds, and ensuring overall operations are within budget and compliant with laws and regulations.
- Monitors federal, state, and local emerging and implemented legislation and regulations to anticipate/project compliance implications and analyze finance/business-related impacts to the district.
- Directly supervises, directs and evaluates the Business Office staff. Assigns, reviews, schedules and plans work. Trains or provides training and professional development opportunities, motivates staff and resolves staff conflicts.
- Coordinates the development and oversees the preparation of the district’s budget and related state reporting requirements (F203 and F195 Reports).
- Oversees and supervises the budget and fiscal compliance requirements and implications of grants and categorical funding.
- Responsible for developing, monitoring and updating the annual budget.
- Provides data analysis and recommendations to the Superintendent and other district management and staff in all financial matters, including budget, bargaining, payroll, enrollment reporting, staffing allocations, grant compliance, and other matters with fiscal impacts.
- Coordinates the maintenance of budget and financial processing, monitoring and reporting systems, providing training and in-service opportunities for district and support staff as necessary.
- Analyzes and evaluates all existing systems, procedures and policies of the business office; recommends and implements improvements as appropriate.
- Assists the Superintendent in developing and preparing fiscal analysis and recommendations for contract negotiations.
- Manages and monitors the oversight of the Capital Projects Fund and timing of bond issues.
- Prepares analysis for the Superintendent to assist in developing, projecting and certifying levy submissions and rates of collection.
- Assists the Superintendent by preparing comparative analysis and financial projections.
- Informs the Superintendent of issues having a fiscal impact on district resources.
- Interprets federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the financial status and procedures of the district.
- Reviews and approves all purchase requisitions to ensure budget control.
- Directs and oversees the development and management the district chart of accounts by staff. Maintains the district chart of accounts in the financial software and finance web page; assigns account codes as necessary to provide for the analytical needs of the district.
- Collaborates effectively with others throughout the district to plan, address issues, and solve problems.
- Present information to the Board, Superintendent, district staff, and public for the purpose of conveying financial information.
