Overview
Knife River is seeking an experienced Trucking Dispatcher to join our team. This position is responsible for safely and profitably assigning trucks, equipment, and personnel for the delivery of rock and asphalt products to internal and external customers. The goal is to ensure on-time, efficient use of resources and compliance with DOT regulations.
Responsibilities- Logistics Coordination:
Actively dispatch trucking personnel, equipment, and third-party carriers to job sites. - Operational Support:
Work closely with Asphalt, Construction, and Aggregates departments to coordinate, plan, and adjust daily routes. - Safety & Compliance:
Ensure full compliance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). regulations, and driver hours. - Reporting & Documentation:
Develop and complete required reports, such as timecards, fuel tickets, and delivery records. - Customer Service:
Act as a liaison between customers, plant operations, and drivers to resolve issues and manage expectations. - General Duties:
Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisors.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Two or more years of experience in the construction industry.
- Detailed knowledge of DOT technical specification requirements.
- Strong communication skills, mathematical competency, and mechanical aptitude.
- Computer
Skills:
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other computer software.
- Experience as a CDL truck driver.
- Experience with various dispatch/time entry software (i.e. Heavy Job, Excel, and Samsara).
