Job Description

Reports To: Transportation Manager

Job Title: Rover Bus Driver

Bargaining Group: IUOE

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Terms of Employment: 4 hours per / 191 days per year

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the tasks involved.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Satisfactory completion of Bus Driver training course.
  • Must have no points on driving record and be able to pass physical including drug test.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must hold a Commercial Driver’s License. Must pass State Skill Test and State Written Test.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between a series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Operates a school bus in a legal and safe manner, transporting students to and from school and activities away from the school, as directed by the following duties:

Performance Responsibilities
  • Arrives in the morning prepared to drive any vacant bus routes in a legal and safe manner.
  • Instructs students and teachers in emergency bus evacuation procedures and conducts drills twice a year.
  • Instructs students in proper bus conduct.
  • Reports misconduct on bus through established district procedures.
