Omega Foundation Services, Inc is looking for Heavy Equipment Operator(s) to join the team!

Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment used in earthwork, grading, excavation, and site development activities. This position performs mass excavation, cut and fill operations, rough and finish grading, trenching, embankment construction, and material handling while ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and production goals. The Heavy Equipment Operator works closely with superintendents, foremen, survey crews, and laborers to complete heavy civil construction projects safely and efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate heavy construction equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, motor graders, wheel loaders, articulated haul trucks, compactors, scrapers, skid steers, and other earthmoving equipment.
  • Perform rough grading, finish grading, excavation, trenching, back filling, and embankment construction.
  • Excavate and load soil, rock, and other materials while maintaining proper grades and slopes.
  • Operate GPS machine control systems, laser systems, or grade stakes to achieve required elevations and tolerances.
  • Perform cut-and-fill operations in accordance with grading plans and project specifications.
  • Assist with site preparation, road construction, utility installation, drainage systems, and erosion control measures.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including fueling, greasing, cleaning, and minor adjustments.
  • Monitor equipment performance and notify supervisors of mechanical issues.
  • Work safely around underground utilities, overhead hazards, structures, and other equipment.
  • Coordinate with survey crews, spotters, truck drivers, and ground personnel to maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Maintain production while minimizing material waste and equipment wear.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, environmental, and project-specific safety policies.
  • Keep accurate equipment inspection records and daily production reports as required.
  • Assist with general construction duties when equipment operation is not required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of heavy equipment operating experience in heavy civil construction, earthwork, or site development.
  • Experience operating multiple types of heavy earthmoving equipment.
  • Knowledge of grading, excavation, utility construction, and soil stabilization techniques.
  • Ability to read grading plans, stakes, and construction drawings.
  • Experience with GPS machine control systems (Trimble, Topcon, Leica) preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.

  • Ability to perform physical labor when required.
Working Conditions:
  • Outdoor construction sites with exposure to dust, mud, noise, vibration, heavy equipment, and changing weather conditions.
  • Frequent work around excavation activities, utility installations, haul roads, and active construction traffic.
  • Overtime, weekend work, and travel to multiple project locations may be required.
Preferred

Certifications:
  • OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Competent Person – Excavation and Trenching (preferred)
  • GPS Machine Control Experience (Trimble, Topcon, Leica)
  • MSHA Certification (where applicable)
