Position Summary
The Minister to Children and Family will cultivate a safe and spiritually vibrant environment where children (Nursery through 6th grade) grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. This role prioritizes family discipleship by equipping parents to serve as the primary disciple-makers in their homes, teaching foundational biblical truths in age‑appropriate ways, and strengthening and developing volunteer leaders while connecting with parents.

- Develop and train volunteer leaders to effectively shepherd children.
- Integrate children’s ministry into the broader discipleship culture of the church.
- Children’s ministry is not isolated programming. It is a strategic component of the church’s overall mission to make disciples.
1. Main Oversight
- Oversee birth through 6th grade ministries.
- Supervise Preschool Coordinator.
- Lead or coordinate Children’s Worship on Sundays.
- Teach or oversee Wednesday night children’s programming.
- Ensure curriculum aligns with church doctrine and discipleship vision.
- Vet possible volunteers for their qualifications.
- Recruit, train, and develop volunteers.
- Coordinate volunteer rotations and scheduling.
- Foster a culture of encouragement, accountability, and teamwork.
- Provide regular communication and basic training for leaders.
- Provide tools and communication to help parents lead at‑home discipleship.
- Encourage family conversations and devotional practices.
- Serve as a relational point of connection for parents.
- Maintain and improve child safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper check‑in systems and volunteer screening.
- Strengthen and refine ministry systems as needed.
- Lead and coordinate Vacation Bible School.
- Assist with summer church camp coordination.
- Collaborate in church‑wide events (e.g., Fall Festival, outreach events).
- And other major churchwide fellowships.
- Work with KCP director and teachers to maximize outreach effectiveness and connections to children and parents.
- Be regularly present and communicate with KCP parents in order to foster relationships with young families in the community.
- Assist in teacher development and curriculum development for KCP.
1. Strategic Ministry Development
- Build long‑term discipleship pathways for children.
- Develop systems for onboarding and evaluating volunteers.
- Create leadership pipelines within children’s ministry.
- Proactively connect with parents beyond Sundays.
- Attend children’s extracurricular activities as able.
- Build relationships with the local elementary school across the street.
- Create parent training moments and workshops.
- Serve as an active, collaborative member of the church staff.
- Oversee and direct the preschool ministry of the church.
- Assist in the direction of Kid’s Count Preschool (a ministry of the church to the community).
- Commit to continual learning and personal development.
- Contribute creatively and flexibly to overall church initiatives.
- Help shape and implement broader church vision.
- A growing and vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
- Willingness to become a member of FBC Clarksville through the church’s membership process.
- Demonstrates spiritual maturity and alignment with the church’s mission.

This position will report directly to the Senior Pastor, oversee the preschool director, and work collaboratively as a team with the church staff and elders.
Hours & CompensationFull‑Time Compensation: $40, (depending on experience and education)
