Position: RN - ICU, FT, WEO Nights

Job Summary

Provides direct and indirect patient care. Communicates with physicians, nurse manager, and co‑workers about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in all departments under adequate supervision.

Reports to:

Unit Director.

Demonstrated Competency In The Following Areas
  • Ability to perform a head‑to‑toe assessment on all patients, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
  • Ability to assess and reassess pain, use appropriate pain‑management techniques, and educate patient and family.
  • Ability to revise plan of care based on patient response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
  • Ability to perform point‑of‑care testing per laboratory and unit policies and interpret results.
  • Provides patient care consistent with standard of care for patient’s age.
  • Knowledge of medications and correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
  • Follows the seven medication rights to reduce medication errors.
  • Formulates teaching plan based on identified learning needs; evaluates effectiveness and includes family when appropriate.
  • Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skill.
  • Performs treatments and provides services at level of licensure.
  • Treats patients and families with respect and dignity; addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
  • Acts as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other health‑care providers.
  • Interacts professionally with patients/families and involves them in care planning.
  • Knowledge of principles of growth and development across the lifespan; provides age‑appropriate care.
  • Provides all aspects of patient care in a safety‑optimizing environment.
  • Supports a culture of safety and quality.
  • Consults other departments for interdisciplinary patient care.
  • Communicates clearly with nurse manager, co‑workers, and physicians.
  • Maintains good working relationships within and across departments.
  • Addresses psychosocial needs; coordinates with social services for in‑hospital and post‑discharge support.
  • Maintains documentation that meets current standards and policies.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
  • Coordinates and supervises patient care as needed.
  • Adapts flexibly, remains organized, and functions under stressful conditions.
Professional Requirements
  • Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Completes annual education and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Punctuality. Completes work within designated time.
  • Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Completes in‑services and returns them on time.
  • Attends annual review and department in‑services as scheduled.
  • Participates in 12 staff meetings annually or reads and returns minutes monthly.
  • Represents the organization positively and professionally.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement.
  • Complies with all ethical business practice policies.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital and department focus statement.
Regulatory Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Current state Registered Nurse licence, within state of practice.
  • Current BLS certification.
Language Skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English.
  • Additional languages preferred.
Computer Skills
  • Basic computer knowledge.
Physical Demands
  • Mobility, sight, hearing, verbal communication; exposure to temperature changes and biological, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards.
  • Frequent standing and walking; lift up to 100 pounds, carry up to 40 pounds, push/pull up to 450 pounds.
  • Safety‑sensitive position pursuant to Amendment 98 to the Arkansas Constitution (safety‑sensitive meaning risk of injury, illness, or death if impaired).
