About the Position
Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) Americas operates 50 schools in 2 Districts located in 2 countries, 7 states, and one territory across 3 time zones. There are nearly 900,000 military connected children of all ages worldwide, of which more than 20,000 are enrolled in DoWEA Americas schools. Fort Campbell is a United States Army installation located between the Kentucky-Tennessee border.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience;
if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
One year of specialized experience which includes:
- Receiving and entering data into an information management database
- Assisting with supply inventory
- Directing inquiries to the appropriate member of the staff
OR
Education:
Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR Combination of
Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Experience for GS-06
One year of specialized experience which includes:
- Utilizing automated systems to prepare reports
- Tracking and ordering supplies
- Maintaining office calendar
- Managing personnel records in areas such as time and attendance, payroll, and/or leave
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this grade, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted for the GS-06 level.
