PM HIP Production Engineer - Full-Time

Location: Tennessee Industry: Advanced Manufacturing / Powder Metallurgy / Metals Schedule: Full-Time | On-site

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled PM HIP Production Engineer to support and optimize production processes involving Powder Metallurgy (PM) and Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) operations. This role focuses on improving manufacturing efficiency, ensuring product quality, supporting technical projects, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet production goals.

Ideal candidates have hands-on engineering experience in metal processing, thermal operations, HIP systems, or precision manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and optimize PM and HIP production processes to ensure high-quality output
  • Develop, implement, and refine SOPs, work instructions, and process parameters
  • Support daily production activities through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with quality, maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to maintain production flow
  • Analyze data and prepare reports on production yields, process performance, and equipment efficiency
  • Review engineering drawings and ensure parts meet dimensional and metallurgical specifications
  • Manage project timelines for process improvements, new product integration, and equipment upgrades
  • Provide technical support for material testing, thermal cycles, dimensional analysis, and post-HIP processes
  • Utilize lean manufacturing tools to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and maintain 5S standards
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental guidelines
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field
  • 2-5+ years of experience in Powder Metallurgy, HIP processing, metals manufacturing, or similar thermal/mechanical operations
  • Understanding of metallurgy principles, densification, and material behavior under high temperature/pressure
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specs
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools, SPC, or process control systems
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced production environment
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
  • Experience with HIP equipment (e.g., Quintus, American Isostatic Presses)
  • CAD/CAM knowledge (Solid Works, AutoCAD, Fusion 360)
  • Familiarity with advanced materials (superalloys, titanium, tool steels, additive-manufactured parts)
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification or training
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems
