THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT.
* GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
This is the first of three levels in the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance series. Incumbents access and operate all process equipment, above and below ground level. Perform maintenance on all operational, mechanical and electrical equipment, systems and structures of the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
* Trains to and operates and performs maintenance and repairs on all operational, mechanical, electronic and/or electrical equipment, systems and structures of the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant while maintaining sanitary cleanliness of work areas, the treatment plant and associated facilities; performs preventative maintenance on all equipment regularly and informs manager of any needed maintenance or repairs.
* Trains to and oversees performance of any contractual maintenance work performed.
* Trains to and monitors plant operations regularly for proper operation and treatment. Makes any changes needed; perform plant calculations for chemical dosages, chemical usage, flow rates, detention time and all other calculations necessary for the operation of the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant.
* Trains to and recognizes plant status, troubleshoots and performs corrective actions of the plant operations to ensure water quality meets or exceeds the standards of EPA and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
* Trains to and accurately updates computerized preventative maintenance and parts inventory management system; enter and update files on computer for preparing reports, spreadsheets, historical information and maintenance records according to City, State and Federal guidelines; view, understand and maintain Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
* Works safely observing all OSHA, Federal, State, and City regulations. Reports any accidents immediately to supervisor. Correctly wears appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
* Must be available for standby/on-call work.
* Performs other work as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Education and Experience:
* High school graduate or GED equivalent.
* One (1) year of experience of installing and/or repairing electronic, electrical and/or mechanical systems.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job's essential duties.
License and Certifications
* Possession of a valid driver's license.
* May be required to obtain a Class A CDL driver's license.
* Train to obtain Grade IV Wastewater/Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification (respective to assigned area).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
* Industrial equipment, components, and machinery.
* Applicable tools, equipment, and materials.
* Reading and understanding maps, drawings, blueprints, schematics, manufacturer's data, gauges, etc.
* Basic algebra, geometry, and hydraulics.
* Safety procedures.
* Recordkeeping principles.
* Welding techniques.
* Computer and related software applications.
* Inventory principles.
Skill in:
* Performing skilled maintenance and repair activities.
* Operating applicable tools and equipment.
* Maintaining operational records.
* Maintaining inventory.
* Detecting and diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
* Reading and comprehending maps, drawings, blueprints, schematics, manufacturer's data, gauges, etc.
* Using a computer and related software applications.
* Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Physical Requirements:
The work is heavy work which requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
