Will provide relocation assistance

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support for HFIR operations and ongoing facility activities.
  • Develop mechanical engineering designs for new installations, replacements, modifications, and upgrades to HFIR structures, systems, and components (SSCs).
  • Perform engineering calculations, evaluations, and technical analyses to support design requirements and the facility design basis.
  • Apply applicable engineering codes and standards, including ASTM, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31 piping codes, NQA-1, AWS, and other relevant requirements.
  • Support engineering plans for reactor core component replacements and system upgrades.
  • Develop design specifications and establish acceptance criteria for upgraded or replacement components.
  • Review and update material specifications and provide technical support for material selection and procurement.
  • Implement engineering modifications in accordance with RRD configuration management and engineering change control procedures.
MUST HAVE:
  • AutoPIPE experience.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with in DOE nuclear facilities and/or commercial nuclear environments.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear technology, reactor safety basis, engineering design, and nuclear facility construction.
  • Experience with mechanical design and manufacturing practices, including welding, joining techniques, and machine design.
  • Familiarity with DOE Orders and Standards, including DOE O 420.1C, DOE STD 1189, and DOE STD-.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles in accordance with ASME Y14.5.

Relocation:
Candidates must be willing to relocate to Tennessee.
